Very nice project and build. Its interesting because I never new this watch existed until the other day when I watched the 3 part Blancpain Fifty Fathoms history video that the brand put up on YouTube. They showed this watch and I thought it was pretty unique and interesting. Well done!

This is on my list of grail watches. @Mir36 Nicely done on the dial. For reference, the bezel is bidirectional and friction - time to downgrade your bezel 😬

Oh …. There is a civilian version too

Here is mine, I have become obsessed with the BP Bund watch since first seeing it.
Amazing what can be achieved with a relatively cheap NH35 powered homage.

Started off it’s life as a standard Steeldive SD1979 50 Atmos
The original parkerised case has been softened very slightly and fully polished and the original (incredibly heavy) bracelet replaced with a Black Perlon strap. The Steeldive logos on case back and crown have also been removed,
Many thanks to @madasboot for the bezel insert, dial ( and boundless advice ) which have replaced the original parts
Lume on the (stock) hands were aged using Derwent watercolour pencil.

To do.
Engraving of Military Stock Number on Case Back and serial number between lugs
Drilling out the lugs replacing the spring bars with Fixed bars
Possible crystal replacement
Replacement of standard minute hand with a broader hand in keeping with the Bund.

Very nice @Simpsan ! I’m still resisting the urge to polish my case. M’s dial is sublime no?

If you find an easy source for try minutes hand please share :)

Thankyou @Mir36 , the dial is stunning, I’m very pleased, filing the bezel insert to get the perfect fit was very scary, I was convinced I’d break it!
Regarding the polishing, I was torn as to stay with the parkerised finish, but I found the polishing very therapeutic, amazing how much polishing you can do on a conference call ;)
I’m looking for the fat minute hand, best so far is this one….

@Simpsan that looks like a winner! Ordered! Will report back when it arrives. Minutes looks good. But the kicker was the hour hand actually, it’s short like the original :)
