Molnija Shockproofing.

Post by frenchy »

I'm really struggling to find a watchmaker here in Spain to clean, lube and regulate a 3601,but if and when I do is it possible to make the movement shockproof?

I personally have not seen a 3601 converted. That said, I do have a few watches without shock proofing. They keep good time on the wrist as desk divers and daily wear.

I use different watches for when I do yard work or wood working
:shifty:

I'm usually okay, but this one is special,a birth year movement almost to the month. And knowing me this would just be the one I'd bash. Although I did notice some Pavlov type behaviour the other day,I've started to automatically turn my wrist when walking through doors.๐Ÿ˜‰

Looked online and saw a few posts about retro shockproofing but have no idea what a Moli would need and if so availability. I've a couple of old quartz beaters I use when tinkering with the car and the ubiquitous G-Shock.

To add to what others said: if you want a shockproof Molnija, you need 3603. But these are usually ugly - basically unfinished. There are some 3603's with CDG and blued screws, but they are hens teeth...
