Early, No Date Zodiac See Wolf

Post by Albatross »

Got this early Zodiac See Wolf from an estate sale. The plexi was so badly scratched that the dial was barely visible, I got it dirt cheap. Took about two hours of cleaning it from a crap load of grime and polishing the plexi.

Haven’t been able to take the caseback off. I have two types of case back openers and both have failed me so far. But so far had it on my wrist for a couple of hours and it is keeping great time.

Got it looking like this.

Yoda wrote:Good job on the plexi and insert! It is a mystery, it says 20 ATM on the back and there are no notches for a case opener. Is there a tiny lip/opening opposite to the crown? I suspect (though strange) that it is a snap on caseback.

It is a snap on caseback, I checked now.
It is?!?!?

What a gem, I absolutely love the vintage Seawolf. Amazing job on cleaning it up. I keep meaning to hit some estate sales.

Great job on the find and rehab! I did not think you were ever going to get that case back off. It looked welded on by corrosion... looks new once opened

Good luck getting that case back back on the watch unless you've got a press. They're TIGHT. I've owned and serviced quite a few of them over the decades.

That was some nasty crud on that, I wonder how something could become so dirty without living in the garden and then I'm sure my garden is cleaner than that watch.
