I like it! Does it have a screw down crown?

What is the construction of the case like? Would it be possible for me to fit an exhibition case back like on this one?

It doesn't have a screw down crown if it's the one sold on AliX

The case you linked is completely different than the one in this thread.

I like that one on AliX, as it already has an exhibition caseback. With bronze it wouldn’t be difficult to swap out the crown & tube with one from Athaya. Too bad it doesn’t ship to the US.

Does this have same 3 piece case design as your steel versions?

First post, so be gentle!

I have one on my wrist right now (bought from AliX). The crown is screw down.

The bezel is a tight compression fit (not threaded). I only found this out because I messed up the keyless, and had to replace the movement. I've still not sorted it out, but I assume the stem is too short because it continues to wind when you tighten the crown - and when I tried a very slightly longer stem, I think that put the keyless out of kilter.

And yes, I had to replace the movement because I couldn't remove it from the back of the case. In frustration, after bits of movement started flying everywhere, I found out it is a front loader. Or, to put it another way - assuming the whole watch was destined for the bin, I pressed on the movement very hard, the bezel came off, and the dial/movement was free to come out. For me, that isn't ideal - because the compression fit of the bezel is very tight, and since re-assembling with the new movement - there is a tiny spec of dust inside the crystal. I will gladly be advised otherwise, but I can't see a way to remove the bezel without either risking another movement by pushing hard on the back of the movement to force the bezel out, or trying to slide a case opening pry/knife under the bezel - and risk gouging the case.

The lume isn't great, especially on the hands. If I do ever get it apart again, I would re-lume. The dial is a simple two piece. Interestingly, it was secured to the movement with tabs, but also an abundance of dial adhesive strips.

I hope that makes sense! I do love the watch though, even though I can't see that Panerai ever made anything remotely similar (would loved to be proved wrong!). The edges of the lugs are quite square and sharp, so they could do with some filing/rounding. With a 24 mm strap from our friend Vesire, it has been on my wrist for the last few weeks.

Thanks for the info PaulSH! Sounds like this one is finicky piece to build with, looks fantastic though.

I think people with more ability than me will get along just fine. Personally, for the money, I think it is well worth it. The strap it comes with is also reasonable - but I ruined mine during the battles I mentioned in my first post. You know when one particular watch just keeps kicking you time after time - this was one of those times. I had an angry mindset from a bad day at work - and I should left it for another day!

Could it be that you have „hijacked“ @river’s thread?
