Custom dial maker (6263 daytona)

Post by edgematic »

Hi all,

I'm currently working on a 6263 project.
I've been looking around at good parts sources and I've noticed that there aren't any great bezels around (mkI's).

I now have designed a mkI bezel and I'm talking to a factory to produce this.

Dials is another part... There are some good dials around with gen coronets (whether they are really gen is something else).
Those dials aren't bad, but not great either.

I've made a dial design to gen spec and I'd like to have these made. Who would be recommended for this? No helenarou or raffles, their quality is not good enough for a high end build.

I started talking to Ruby but she's just a middleman, so not sure if she will be able to offer interesting prices.

Any leads, hints or tips?

Thanks, they mainly seem to work on brass plates, I've contacted them but I doubt they will be able to help.
Kilowattore uses vietnam dials, which are the best available but not correct. They have to adjust small details.

Darn, I was hoping you’d report back with better news. Want to make a custom panda dial but it has to be printed, brass plates won’t do.

I'm working on it. The Dark Lord is able to do a 6263 dial but I think he uses vietnam dials as a base, strips the printing and does the printing again.
The main issue with the viet dials, apart from the lay-out, only talking about finishing are the concentric circles, they look too big for a 6263. The original one is much more refined.

What I'm thinking about now is getting a custom one made by a well known dial manufacturer, without any printing, and have them printed by someone else. So basically creating blank dials, buy a viet dial to use the indexes and the applied logo.
