This was common 7x12 Chinese lathe... I made many mods, if needed I can explain..Phaedros wrote:Nice! What is the base model of this machine? They are called cutting mats. The downside is that the surface is not as soft as rubber, more like hard plastic but flexible.

Re: What are you working on now?
What I can see is you made larger hand-wheels, added coolant and removed a lot of the housing... did you have to alter anything regarding the spindle bearing or so?djolemag wrote: ↑February 20th, 2021, 5:38 pmThis was common 7x12 Chinese lathe... Re: What are you working on now?
Changed bearings to tapered. New longer traversal leadscrew. Linger housing for it.
Same for small compound.
Added bearings to those housings.
In headstock, i removed runner so spindle is direct driven by dc brushless motor.
Bigger chuck and backplate.
Modified tailstock locking and added bearings at handwheel.
Raised whole lathe at cast iron feet.
Also added tapered gibs at saddle.
Drilled chip plate, added coolant reservoir and pump.
Made modifications to gears transmission and plate where they reside but it still need some tweaks.
Added carrier ring for dividing plates at spindle...
Made new steel QCTP....
And stainless steel wheels
