I have a problem

Post by jrlmsla »

So I think we all agree on “our problem” the one that brings us here in the first place. The one that makes us contemplate how we will explain that watch she hasn’t seen on our wrist before, or another PayPal payment to Singapore, Ukraine or China.

But I have another problem. I seem to be as prolific a buyer as the rest of you. My issue is that I don’t seem to finish most of my builds. I acquire parts and get excited, then one of you fools posts your latest build and I pivot and start buying parts for another project.

I need help. And no sending all my stuff to youse guys is NOT an option!

Same here - but i call that a good stock for later :)
The best thing is when you want to make a build and have all parts in stock👍 unfortunately, most of the time at least one part is missing
Though - i look from time to time where i want to go and sell stuff that dont fits in my perspective...

My problem is eBay and the internet. I see something …. A movement, a case….and suddenly I have 3, wait..5, 10….and realize that the is getting silly and yes, I should share with the forum.

That said, sometimes I find A part, buy it and more often a movement that I feel deserves to be in a special build and yet…. years later, it’s still sitting, waiting to be put to use…

7+ years - I think thats the oldest homeless movement I want to build a watch around - I actually have only just started kicking around ideas

5+ years - the longest build(s) from start to end (gathering parts, building, making changes) once I decided what I was going to build …. 2 builds come to mind….. one started from buying a set of hands

The first step in curing an addiction is admitting that you have a problem. As addictions go, watches are a pretty safe one to have...unless you take it to a point where you've spent all the money and can no longer feed your family

Hard to get past parts stage. Just like moving, you need to do clear out wvery few months, get parts down to reserve levels. Also useful to have a limit as to the number of watches one owns at any one time… currently im down to 2 (and one is my dads old watch)

But…i have no 3 incoming atm
