I tried saving the pic as pdf and sending it to Dimitry, but it didn't work.
not the pic, the ppt file where you create the art text.
Oh, Ok. I right click the image, save as picture...but pdf is not an option for file format. Maybe it is just a matter of the version/license of PowerPoint that I have.
Well, it doesn't work that way. You can access the PDF format in 'Save as...'. If Dmitry still can't process the file, it might be because the WordArt you are using has gradient or drop shadow that is originally bitmap.

A lot of my customers are also got confused about vector vs bitmap, what to use with them, when to use them, and where to use them. So you're not alone.

Did you check if your program has any „export“ features? If „save as“ doesn’t work, this might be a way...

You could simply take a screenshot of the ppt document, paste it into mspaint and save it from there.
Use ALT + PrtScn to capture the current window.

I recommend you use Inkscape for your dials in the future.

atkin68 wrote:I've got a problem. I have a dial design I'd like to hand off to Dimitry, but he needs a high res or vector file to work with. I created my design just in Microsoft Powerpoint, using Wordart - and when I save as an image, the resolution is too low. I have tried finding a drawing app of some kind, but none of them produce the effect I want which Wordart produces, and I also don't have the skills to create that effect myself with the software I have tried. I don't know if there's an inexpensive software package that I could buy and learn to use to do it, but what I'd really like to do is hand off my low res design to someone who has the tools and skills to reproduce it as a high res/vector file and then use that to send to Belkin.

Is there anyone who has suggestions on how I could do this myself, an app I haven't found, etc.? Or...

Is there anyone who would take on the task of creating my design for me from a low res image, supplying a high res/vector file - for a fee?

Thanks!
Dave
If you need it redraw in vector format, let me know. I can do it for you.

I want to say thanks again to everyone who offered help and insights. toofsy took my file and recreated my artwork for me in a format I can use, and on top of that I learned some valuable stuff from others who offered suggestions on how to use the software I already have as well as suggestions on other applications that are going to give me the ability to do more on my own in the future. HF is the best.
