I am however not capable of starting a project on my own....
Why not? You can do anything you put your mind to.
Maybe come up with the idea and design, farm it out...
I see DROP has a Tritium watch and it was farmed out to Armourlite. Armourlite made the watch for DROP.
Maybe you (we) could do the same, come up with the design and idea, farm it out to who ever can produce it. It does not have to be Armourlite, there are lot of companies on the web.
Maybe a kit type watch would work? Source the dial from one place, source the movements from another, that might work too. So many options.
First you need an idea (or a couple). What do you and a group of misfits from here agree on in the design. What will attract the largest number of the members to buy in on? Post the ideas and refine them . Then draw something up rough in CAD. Then fine tune. Redraw.
What watch represents HF?
I'm thinking out loud here. Probably a mechanical movement over a quartz?
Crazy good lume or tritium?
Cover a range of dress to sporty (maybe with a strap or bracllet change)
Water proof
and ??????
Happy to facilitate... Share ideas... But i have just started building and managed to destroy a few movements and watches in my efforts... I even picked a wrong local guy to put together well made parts badly (sometimes with super glue - that bastard)...
But lets keep the discussion going. I am sure we can get something really good out... Something representative of the talents and skill sets in homageforum...
I certainly think that it should be something in a form of a kit so we can all participate in a build...
Going by abstract, these are the elements i associate homage forum with....
- repurposing vintage movements
- aging, adding patina to case, dial and hands, every member has the freedom to 'date stamp' their own creation
- 3 piece dial construction. Vintage lume...
- applying vintage methods to modern construction... With the help of modern techniques...

What about something based on a Longines or Eterna Czech Air Force watch.

But with a modern twist. Like updated size to 42ish

My vote would be for a vintage diver like
62mas
Seamaster
Fifty fathoms
With some sweet 60s color schemes

Its nice... Personally i have 2 longines caf.. But recently longines caf was reissued by longines and also precista made a homage...
Seamaster was homaged by helson and borealis...
And the seiko 62mas was homaged by chinese maker...
You can get/make these builds without too much effort...
I would personally like to push to be made a watch that is harder to come by or go with the idea of a homageforum concept watch...

Regarding a unique homage forum watch... I would suggest that such a watch exhibit all the skills of members acquired from years of building homage watches...
My suggestion... The watch case should be made up using the multi piece case construction that we are familar with (see:
https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/perezco ... ction/amp/ for a discussion on the case construction).
To make it different from our existing projects... we can make the shape quite different from a panerai or rolex but i wonder how different we can make a case shape...
We can also incorporate our knowledge with regard to 3 piece or sandwich dial construction. Once again it doesnt have to look like a pam or a rolex... I would like to see the tritium vial idea that binbin is working on comw to life in this project...
Pantograph engraving?
We can explore interesting crown protection methods utilized in other vintage watches...
We may just come up with something strange and interesting

Why a homage? Something custom, only available to HF members.
Homage Foristi. I'd love to be walking thru an airport and spot one of my brothers because of his watch. (or a seedy strip club...

)
Of course it would need to have true tritium tubes .....
+1 for a unique HF watch

thinking about an unique watch really is cool only for hf
around 44-48mm
a clean and easy dial design with some strong lume or tritium tubes, sandwich
ss case with optional ss bracelet with adjustable clap
saphir as an option
waterproof
maybe 2 or 3 hands option
a quality high end movement, maybe changeable with an asian. prefer handwound
close caseback and display caseback
engravings for caseback, between lugs
maybe a rotating bezel
some special kind of crown lock
.......
just something Im thinking about. sure a watch which need some work, polishing, case shaping, vintageing, dial building, .....a high end quality watch as binbin said as you see somebody wearing this watch he is a bro from hf

If my bourbon fogged memory still works you sketched out a hexagon shaped case on the old forum when we were discussing an HF watch?
Still have the sketch?
