I can hold back from buying one of these online, but if I ever saw one in a shop, behind the glass under all of those warm beautiful jewelers lights… I’d be in trouble.

Check out the angle of the case, it should be easier to see when driving.

It's a monocoque case and I will not lift out the movement, it's a 23 jewel movement.

This one was a gift from the family of a good friend of mine who passed too early.
It's always good to see you working on a vintage Hamilton Michael
Case shape is really interesting.
I understand why you don't want to lift out the movement,
yet I'd be curious to see what it looks like, would have a link or a pic of similar movement please?

It has been a while since I serviced this one, I am afraid that it was in October 2017.
Unfortunately I don't remember the calibre and name of the model.

No problem M,
Thank you.
Considering the engraving dated 1961, and the small diameter,
it's probably a Swiss movement, so not that interesting ...

No, it's not a Swiss movement, Hamilton was bought by the Swiss (ETA) around 1969 - 1970 and the movement is beautifully decorated. I may pull out the movement to show it in all its glory. It starts on less than a full turn of the crown.

Please don't risk to damage this sentimental watch for me and my curiosity :)

I've never seen small size "real US" Hamilton movement with sophisticated decoration,
so I was supposing that it could be a rebranded Swiss movement like these used for MIL watches.
My MIL GG-W-113 movement : Hamilton caliber 649 is based on ETA 2750, and production started in 1967.

Your movement seems more sophisticated if 23 jewels.

I am sure that it will be an easy operation and I also need to tighten the cannon pinion a little, so why not kill two flies in one blow.

I am not completely sure, but I have a faint sense of the movement being a calibre in the 700 or 800 series, the absolute last American movement from Lancaster Pennsylvania.

I really miss the independent makers and detest ETA and Swatch Group and the other idiots.
