Waltham with crystal bridges

In 40 years of collecting I've seen exactly 3 crystal plate Waltham movements in person. And none of them were for sale, they were just being shown off by their proud owners.

I wonder if our forum could tackle a 6497 clear bridge project. Would other plastic based materials work?

I don't know about plastic, but just yesterday I was reading about milling glass. I'm sure you could mill plates out of glass. How it would last I do not know.

the idea is genial, think about a 3/4 bridge, it would be looking amazing. I guess even you could use polih plexi but where I see the problem is, how to press the jewels inside, glue them? how to screw the winding wheel and the click? I think that are some reasons why there aren’t glas bridge movements at all.

Maybe a brass bushing in the jewel holes? Same for the winding wheel and click. Threaded brass insert? The insert could be riveted (crushed) into place.
