I’m in complete agreement in with regards to the Omega 960. Of all of the pocket watch movements I’ve worked on the Omegas are in a different league as far as quality and reliability. I also really like how well they go with bronze cases

Solid, reliable and I can always tune them to +/- a few seconds a day. I’ve only been able to get one 962(the gold with a 6498 layout), they went a little further than usual with the decoration.

the 830’s are also really excellent. The winding action and sound is so solid, it’s like a movie sound effects team engineered it. I’m guessing that Doxa is similar- really beautiful btw, love the gold chatons on the rubies!

I really like that watches are so modular in design. I used to customize and mod motorcycles, like big Lego builds you can ride around town on. Watches are similar but I can collect so many more in the same amount of space. Also, my wife doesn’t get irate when I park watches in the living room.

This 962 is amazing !

It’s fascinating to see how many variations has been done on 6497-6498 ebauches.
I’m still discovering some after 12 years.

Maybe we should have a museum gallery for these rare pieces?

Here is one of my favorite:
Typical Hamilton Watch Co decoration on a Swiss ebauche, so probably one of the last Lancaster production ☹

That Hammy is excellent!! I’ve tried to catch one of those a few times on eBay but it’s a fight. I love the idea for a thread with all of the 6497 & 6498 variants. It’s like a world unto itself!

Amazing collection of 960s .... i am literally drooling over that 962. Didn't even have an idea that it existed.
First time i see that variant of Hamilton, would compliment my 921 nicely, for sure.

@Hypnogagia
This Hammy is nice, I get a few ones back in the days…
Search for this “Lord Hamilton” pocket watch: (limited edition 2.050pcs)

About this particular dial,
check this one:
RECAS_TISSOT_ENGRAV_01.JPG
exactly the same mold, but Tissot signed,
perfect illustration of @dj57 reflection: same parts used by different brands.

@matrixxu 921 is far above this Unitas workhorse decorated by Hamilton ...

Indeed, i love my Hamilton 921 ( 1947 ) .

Never expected it to run like this, it was fully serviced, extra decorated, all screws thermal blued, got a NOS original spring fitted.
It has 305 amplitude , runs for 49 hours and 47 minutes and the more accurate timegrapher registers deviations between minimum 0.4 and 1.6 seconds per 24h.

This build turned out awesome! Not sure if I can engrave the crown guard and over-write the caseback with a different branding. Image

@Fizzzz - it always feels like finding a cheat code when I find out that I can source compatible parts between different brands. Especially when it means I can add something like shock protection or a new wheel to allow for a seconds hand. I wonder how they did those dials, stamped, engraved? Both?

@matrixxu - that Hamilton is gorgeous!
