Good that you figured it out. And the belt buckle looks really nice :)

I unknowingly switched frome acetone to lighter fluid. The latter will degrease nicely but is insoluble in water.
Glad you worked out what the problem was

Hopefully all back on track now.

Phew... almost there. I could now come up with excuses how these buckles went full murphy on me a gazillion times but I‘ll spare you the whining. If anyone wants to retreat from his spot in the run and rather not have his buckle/s I‘m absolutely OK with that, just pm me. I had set the 19th of may as date of completion and here we are three weeks later... I am honestly devastated to have you waiting for so long.

First of all the promised „fails“. The buckle with the red arrow is a 24mm straight from the plating bath out of the proto run. The other are two of the screwed ones:

Part of what I did today while waiting for the nickel to adhere to the brass was making the boxes. I have a cutting template, so they go pretty fast.

And the labels ready for patina (Earl Grey is my favorite 😅)

8/10 are done, two are currently plating and if I don’t forget to take them out of the bath (again) making them look like nickel-mc-nuggets, I am positive that all ten will be done by tomorrow. I‘ll need to age a few and get all of them packed.

I‘ll drop pms/ mails for adress and payment to you who have ordered a buckle as soon as I definitely know that nothing can go wrong anymore.

Thanks to everyone for your patience!
