Shortcuts Glossary

Post by cosmic2000 »

Hello to all

Maybe it is just my individual noob-saturday-morning-problem, but maybe I am not alone :-)

Even though I follow the threads here constantly I still have my problems with all the shortcuts and terms, that I would define as "The Homage-Forum own language".

This forum means much to me and I want to give something back.

What do you guys think about a shortcut and terms glossary, built up like a dictionary? For all the noobs like me :-) Or does it already exist and I was too much of a newbie to find it ???
The firm I am working for has its own universe of shortcuts and terms, too. Our trainees started to build up such a glossary and even the old ones like me are ever so happy with it :-)

If there is any interist, I would contact the mods and figure out, what kind of thread would be suitable and would start with it.

What do you guys think? Please let me know!

Yours cosmic2000

Not a bad idea. There is no thread with that information.

Unfortunately I'm too sleepy right now to think of any of those terms

Maybe the ones about the makers and brands?

What I have in mind is something like wikipedia. Everyone can join in. The only structure is the alphabet, for example:

A:
* Athaya build: These are builds based on parts from a trusted dealer called Athaya, www.xyz.com

B:
*

C:
* Cartell build: There were times when several dealers sold watch parts ...and so on...
* CG: CG means crown guards. You often find them on Rolex cases.

D:
* DWO: DWO means Date Wheel Overlay. You stick a dwo on the original date wheel of your movement when using a dial that is not made for the original date wheel position, f.e. when you use an eta 2824 for a rolex-build.

And so on, and so on.
What do you guys think?
Sincerely c2000
