Hello From Seattle

Hi folks. Dave here from the Seattle area. I've been posting a bit lately with specific DIY questions and it occurred to me I should introduce myself.
I've been hanging around this and another forum off and on for years with aspirations of someday really learning how to work on my own projects, but have never really had the essential resources of time and money both available at the same time to really make the leap. I've bought a few watches, puttered with some that stopped running to see what's going on inside, got discouraged, gave up.... in recent months some circumstances aligned and I thought "I'm gonna try again", and in the last week I actually succeeded in doing a total 6497 rebuild from the parts I saved and got it working (it wasn't pretty, but with the help of several of you it is ticking away).
Over the years I've done a little business with some of the sponsors like NZ, NW, Athaya, Blue Radish; but I'm by no means a regular. I probably won't post much unless I have a question, and then I will probably post too much
. I look at the watch thing like I look at my cars: I'm never going to be a master or get paid for my work, but I do like knowing how things work and fixing them myself if it's within my means. And, of course, I love watches. Other passions are guitar and fly-fishing.
Thanks for all the help I've received directly from other members and also from searching the forum. It's a great resource.
