Would it be possible to build your own tourbillion watch with the resources in this forum?

For example can i buy one of those rep tourbillion that look nothing like the real thing and get one of our makers to make a dial for it to make a one off self branded original for myself.

What do you think?

yes of course. lots of members here have one-off custom dial made. it's all up to you, the resources are here in HF and some can be found in China

Surely a dial is needed but is it more complicated than that?

Who can do new hands if needed?

Is it better to buy a 800 usd rep and cannibalise the movement or source for one off taobao (would mean i need to find a case too)

Hands, there are many kinds. For custom one off hands, i think rmcsherry can do that - though he was busy from the last few weeks.

Assuming we use this iwc rep (i think its probably a fantasy rep).

A basic mod i may want to do is remove the iwc markings from the dial, and reprint with my own text ("promised Star"), make sterile the crown and movement rotor, or create replace the display caseback with a solid one.

Something more adventurous would be to get someobe to help make up a completely new dial.. Something simple like a white dial with printed/painted arabic numerals in black in the style of old enamel dials instead of applied numerals (like the stowa marine original).

Can anyone here help me with such a project?

Hi Aris.dayton, would you be able to take on such a project or would you recommend another member who regularly does project watches?

I read that the seagull tourbillions are really nice and i think the fantasy reps tend to be quite well made in terms of case and dial finishing and all it takes to make it your own, is to render it sterile and then print your own meaningful text.

I also saw the skeletonised watch, which is nice but a little too busy or blingy for me.
