Hello again

While it saddens me to learn that our old stomping grounds will soon go the way of the dodo, I'm happy to see that V2 is just beginning. In every end, there is also a beginning. While there was a wealth of information on HF1.0, a lot of it has become outdated with vendors no longer around, photos not working (thanks photobucket) and advancements in technology etc.. So hopefully HF2.0 stays more relevant.

So here's to a long and prosperous HF 2.0!

Cheers to that!

Nice to have a revival.

Were you the same username there? Didn’t recognize yours.

Yep. I was a noob there too. Joined HF1.0 in March 2017. Lurked for about 2 years prior to that. I'm not to "wordy" usually. I think I had 18 posts there.

What are your plans or what have you acquired or built in the last year? It’s amazing to me how long it takes to get projects rolling. I’m 1-2 months into restarting the hobby and I have nothing to show.

The one thing that hasn't changed is definitely the patience factor in this hobby.

That's absolutly true. Starting builds showed me what patience really means. I can only work on builds for several hours per month, mostly sunday afternoons, and finishing builds takes ages !!!

Right now I've got a 3646 i've been tweaking.

I need to make a strap for it. Been mulling over whether to make my own or just buy the NW DIY strap. Also been back and forth about putting a Davidson 6497/618 movement in this. I've done a few molly builds over the last 2-3 years and while they CAN be made to run well, I've had reliability issues with them where they suddenly either stop working or start running oddly. Usually can be fixed by re-servicing, but that's a lot of nonsense. Never had an issue w/ 6497's (asian variants too) so...

I've been back and forth about a mini fiddy or a 6152/1 or a 6154. I've been eying up NW's 6152 case/parts set. Casually looking for a basketcase build or a complete watch too.

I would buy the DIY strap kit! That's a lot easier than buying all the required tools and parts for making one.

Or contact Antonio and ask him to make his magic happen.
