Timascus Buckle

Just wanted to share my first buckle.
Kind of a Pilot style buckle. 20mm
Made from Timascus (Plasma/Nebula pattern) from Alpha Knife Supply.
It's far from perfect as is it was more of a proof of concept for me.
Just wanted to see if I could finish one before really going all in on some more.
The tang was cannibalized from a Barton strap as I haven't quite figured a good process out for a Ti tang yet.
It's flat and definitely need some curve to it. I also botched the spring bar holes... Lessons learned on to the next.
What do you guys think?

Gotta say, pretty damn cool looking material. I'm familiar with it but it looks nice in buckle form.

Bojangles This one is beautiful! What drillbits do you use? I found solid carbide drills work best on regular grade 5 titanium. And they do sound nice, when they shatter
How thick is the material? Would it make sense to drill the tang hole from the top of the timascus lying flat and cut out the tang around it - or would that make it too narrow?

Thanks guys
I used a tungsten carbide .9mm bit. Low speed and a bit of oil for cooling. Pretty sure these bits are made of pixie dust anyways, they snap if you look at them the wrong way...
The material itself is .127 thick. I’m wondering if I could find someone to waterjet a bunch of tangs and then make a holding fixture to drill the holes out. Cutting them from flat stock would show all the layers inline with each other once anodized (which I like).
Considering selling some of these if I can get my process down a little better. I’ve seen these go for a few hundred bones and I feel like I can offer a better price than that. Maybe in the $150-250 range depending on black or white timascus.
I haven’t worked with black timascus yet, am planning to grab some when the right size comes up for sale.
