Buying from Athaya

Hello everybody

This post is about a caution i would like to raise in case someone wants to order from Athaya Vintage.
In my case, products are shipped using DHL,the worst courier regarding customs declarations

DHL is very formal regarding values declared in customs declaration.
The bigger the ammount, the better for them since they get paid depending on that.

Adrian on the other hand is declaring FULL value on the parts order.

As we all know, this hobby is sustainable because dealers are flexible in lowering the declared value.
This dealer IS NOT!

Be careful when ordering from Adrian especially from within EU,you will get to pay (at least) 25% more of the parts value in customs fees.

Since EU made the change from 1st of July, everything coming from countries outside EU is checked, please be aware!

In Sweden, it's the same thing whenever you buy something from outside EU, everything is caught in customs and you will have to pay around 25% of the stated value.
Any business has to declare the value and I have rarely been able to have a lower value declared on the parcel. It's both good and bad when the correct value is stated, you will be able to have a full refund if the parcel is lost when the actual amount is stated on the parcel, otherwise not.

Lol

Of all carriers people use, i specifically ask not to use DHL. Very difficult to deal with, and imo charges are off the scale.

The thing I hate the most is how they still charge you for making you pay VAT so let's say you have to pay 10 euro VAT but get to pay 25 because 15 is their fee

That's what grind my gears... 15€ for just touching a parcel... That's cheaper than the bay girls.

For a 270 euro package fees are
24% for the customs = 65 euros
DHL handling fees =70 euros

That is for a few sets of 6497 golden hands

Well to agree with supplier is one thing but if this is not possible, get used to it. Almost Everything got much more expensive this year because of commodities as well as logistics which is the worst thing. Its a new normal. Your watch will be more expensive because of logistics. Just add this to your cost price

All that said, there are ways to ease the pain.
One possibility is a certain rise in retail prices but then sending the goods with VAT already paid.
AliExpress is doing this already. They just add VAT at the cashier. Then there are no handling feeds by DHL and the like. Namoki did very much the same they raised prices by 15% and send VAT included.
It is up to Athaya. He could do the same.
