Hello,

I’ve a 6497 that I changed the CP to an H3. After making the change something wasn’t good, no resistance when adjusting the time. I recall Yoda once told me that no resistance isn’t good it must have some resistance.

So I winded the movement to see the hands moving but nothing and the movement was running.

Went back and assembled the original CP and the movement was working again. The resistance when setting time was back and the hands were moving. Thought that might be an issue with the CP and tried out at another movement. For the second movement it worked no problem at all.

Why does it work with one movement only since they both are Unitas 6497?

No resistance when setting means the minute CP loose.
Get nail cutter and pinch it.

Use a smooth tapered pin or a needle which is a tiny bit smaller than the hole and insert it in the cannon pinion.
Look for the mark where the cannon pinion was pinched from the beginning and pinch it again.
Remember to oil the center wheel arbor before putting on the cannon pinion to avoid wear caused by the friction.
The friction sometimes becomes loose when pulling off the cannon pinion and fitting it again. Parts are not completely identical, the discrepancy is in the high hundreds of a millimetre.
Take it in small steps to avoid too much friction.
