….or your oldest homage purchase you own if you aren’t a builder.

A buddy asked me how many builds I have done over the years and honestly could not come up with a number. I ballparked somewhere between 75-100 over the years….. he then asked me the oldest one I had….. and I didn’t have anything that old as I tended to sell watches to finance new ideas for builds or repurpose parts from existing builds.

Do I have builds I regret selling. Yes.

Long story short, I made a few watches for him in 2008-2009 that he still had and I managed to trade one back today. Lets call it 13 years old.

I’ve always liked single hand watches. I’ve bought 3 meistersingers over the years, built 3-4 single hand watches but never kept one because I assumed the parts would always be around when I wanted to build another. These specific dials are now impossible to find. There is now a variation on eBay that doesn’t quite do it for me.

Ingredients:
Kemmner dial and hands
Vintage 6497/8 I think - the caseback is stuck :( (for now)
Silix 3646 (47mm) case
A soft @blueradish strap with a Quizats knife buckle

I can't say that I have built a lot of watches, but my first build was a big pilot with a Hamilton 917 around 2006 and I upgraded it later on with a 921 with blued screws. It is unfortunately long gone and a recent build now has a 923 inside, the final build with that movement.

Cool watch!

@Tanukjaju

I can print one of my case back tools so you can apply enough force to open it without damaging the finish :?:

I don't have much of a story other than we moved and house renos took over life.

This killer badboy is back on the bench. started it up last night. She'll be powered by an SF240 courtesy of @Tanukjaju , had @neckyzips redo the CB and make it nice a big to showcase the movement.

Stay tuned
