Hi all, I have a 6152/1 which I bought second hand back in 2014 and never did anything with. I am recently getting back into building watches and going through all of my parts, and old projects that I want to finish up and this is one of them. I bought this watch in this condition and needs a new movement, stem, and caseback plexi. I can deal with all expect for the caseback plexi which I have never replaced. I believe this is a NW thick OPB display case back. I have an Athaya 6152/1 case and the caseback from that case fits, so I know I can just buy one there, but I'd like to see if I can fix this one.

I can use a caliper to measure the appropriate size, but how it is installed, is it just press fit directly on the back? glued? Also, appropriate place to purchase plexi? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

If you want a flat plexi, I'd try a laser engraving place to see if they have a piece of plexi they can cut to size for you. Most places that make custom stamps (laser cut, naturally) should be able to do this. Then glue it in with UV glue. If you want a domed one, buy one in the right size from one of the online stores.

Great thanks everyone. I ordered one from Athaya since I needed a replacement crown. I’ll experiment with some of the advice here as well.

Use a mineral or sapphire with a gasket. It’ll give you some level of waterproofing. Adrian’s caseback came with a friction fit plexi which allowed the inside of the Watch to fog up.

To a degree it is trial and error but it’s a much better outcome.

These watches never go near water. But I’ll look into that as well. Thanks!

Humidity and body heat will fog up a watch.

Adrian / Athaya’s crystals are super.
A press fit plexi must always be sealed, and it is precisely the seal that becomes yellowish with sea, sweat and sun.
My advise whatever solution you may take is to seal it with G-S hypo or if you feel like a pro, resin.

I use silicone plumbers sealant and install/tap in with a hammer with a plastic head.
