This is the true Grail! Thanks for this photo! What are the details of its composition? Did you use gene ingredients? This is very inspiring!!

@AXENOV85 Thank you! It’s a gen I stumbled on locally. I was trying to do 6217 project and found this. Was lucky :)

Excellent results AXENOV85
And beautiful gen Mir36

This discussion raises an important question for me. I have been trying to piece together a 62mas homage. Actually a homage to the SLA037, one of the new reissues.
Image
What has puzzled me is that on the original 62mas there is no chapter ring (as evident in your gen photo) nor is there a chapter ring on the reissue SLA037. I have found the dial, but it is sized for a chapter ring to fit a modern sized case (which I do want as well, I have seen the smaller homages but 40mm is my sweet spot). How does Seiko do this on the SLA037? Is it a larger dial? Or am I just missing something? The silver around the dial appears to go straight back from the plexi as opposed to angled inward like a chapter ring. Not using a chapter ring would, I assume using the Panerai verbiage cause some gaposis between dial and case.
Any ideas?

@jrlmsla what’s your dial diameter and what’s the aperture diameter on the case you are using? Perhaps you can post a photo. BTW I’ve been using Namoki mods for seiko project parts, maybe you can search for parts there.

This is the dial and it measures the typical 28.5mm.

The issue is I don’t know what case to get as it seems that most have the chapter ring installed. I don’t want to purchase one, remove the crystal only to find that once the chapter ring is removed the dial is too small.

Here is the Tandorio case. Note the black chapter ring. It is available with other colors but still has one.

Another random Ali express case. Chapter ring included

Even more obvious on this photo of the Tandorio case

Heimdaller, San Martin etc all have this. SKX to 62mas conversion cases like Namokies which I agree is an awesome seller to do business with, accept original and Seiko SKX mod parts. Which means a 28.5mm dial and a chapter ring. Otherwise the dial swims around inside the case.
The only one Ive found that does not require a chapter ring is the Seastern case. Image
And that is because it is a full 3mm smaller than some of the others that come in at 41mm.
So ultimately I guess my question is, if I want to have a look that is closest to the original 62mas with no chapter ring is there any options out there? Besides going with the 38mm Seastern, which is I fear just too small for my fat arms.
