Automatic movements with date.

Post by Yoda »

Just a reminder, NEVER set the time backwards and NEVER set the date unless you are at least three hours from 12 o'clock.

So, set the date forward and stop the day before the actual date and set the time forward.

@dj57 :lol: :lol: :lol:

@Yoda when I first started collecting vintage I thought I had done this, as the date wouldn’t flip over on the watch (1960’s Nivada DaVinci), carefully took it out of the case, removed the hands and dial, checked all the functions- everything worked outside of the case. Dial and hands back on, everything worked. Back into the case and again, date wouldn’t change over and then it stopped ticking. It took a few tries but I finally figured out that the caseback gasket had gone a bit too flat and was allowing me to tighten the caseback down so much that it squished the dial side preventing the date wheel from moving!
I keep adding airplane parts to my motorbike but it still doesn’t fly

I try to avoid setting time backwards but some watches the crown seems to work in "reverse". Luckily I haven't broken one yet. Thanks for this reminder M. :)

Since I can't see the date easily anyway, I don't bother setting that anymore LOL
