Re: Solid gold case 6497
This is really cool. I am considering a white gold case for a 6497 build as well!

Re: Solid gold case 6497
Does anybody know how much a typical Gold alloy would shrink after being cast? With cast iron it is as much as 6-8% !!
Want to say, if you take a regular 47mm case as a moulding template, you will end up very likely with a smaller one.
Emilio, could your 3d print file be enlargened accordingly to compensate for the shrinkage? Would guess so.
The first 2533 for demonstration purposes was from 9k =0.375 Gold, which is definitely not very much Gold, if you need onla a litte less than 3cm3 for a mid case, or did I calculate wrong? Maybe I could confirm with a volume replacement scale. Would be a nice experiment.

Definitely, it's as easy as using the "scale" tool.TitusDH wrote:Does anybody know how much a typical Gold alloy would shrink after being cast? With cast iron it is as much as 6-8% !!
