I’ve got a Vulcan signed Valjoux 7739 (three hand version of the 7733 with running seconds at 9). Needs a proper cleaning and service but it runs pretty well. Might add a glucydur balance.

Image

Fingers crossed I can find an exhibition caseback for it.

The Valjoux movement is just barely bigger than the NH35, so I’m hoping I can make it fit. If all goes well I’ll have a Bronze Bambino Egiziano 2 Day!
Keep us posted! Can’t wait to see the results!

I get a feeling of Unitas/ETA when I see that layout.

It’s pretty much the same assembly as the 6497 under the bridges, just slightly smaller. The finishing is standard Swiss which is nice, but I wish it had ANY decoration or creativity. I’ve got a spare one, I should find one of those excellent engravers in Bulgaria or Ukraine to do something beautiful.

Looks like you’ve got some work ahead of you. The dial diameter is 33mm so you’ll need to machine out the case unless this movement is 33mm or less.

The Valjoux/Vulcain is 31.3mm, and I’m pretty sure the movement in the Baltany is around 29-30mm. Fingers crossed that there’s some extra room in there and and it’s not a front loading case. if the dial is 33mm (judging from measuring the front sapphire glass in screenshots that seems right) it should work. Bronze is pretty easy to work with though, so if the inside needs a little clearing out it shouldn’t be too tough. My biggest concern is how big the opening is where the caseback threads on, if I can’t clear that I’ll have to get creative.

I do have another option with a smaller movement, but it’s not yet in the post.

Also, has anyone here torn down a Baltany? They look to be similar quality to Steeldive or San Martin, but this will be my first B.

I think you’ll be please with the construction. Very much on par with the SD and SM cases.

I think you’ll be good then with that movement. You’ll just need to make a good holder and make sure the stem alignment is correct.

Oh heck yeah! you have one! WOW there’s a lot more room in there than I expected. Are you thinking of modding yours? The seller I bought from said that mine was one of the last he had available. I’m not sure how many they made.

I will see if I can do this when I leave my temporary address at the hospital.

I decided to keep mine simple. I was thinking about putting in a rare small ligne 8 day manual wind movement a member had for sale here a while back, but decided not to for now.
