How a bee ruined my day...

Post by Petram »

Hi all

I was making a watch for a fellow member here, and it was almost done...

I just needed to make about 1mm more distance between the crownguards, and it was supposed to be a simple and fast thing to do on the mill.
I did notice that a bee was flying around in the workshop, but didn't think more of it and start milling.
All of the sudden the stupid little thing stings My leg, and I get surprised and moves the handle on the cross slide to fast and too much, and this is what happens...
A bee did this....jpg
So tomorrow it is on it again with a new piece of bronze, to make a brand new case

That sucks!

Is it some short of Seiko homage?

I know that I should "bee" happy about the little things in life, and I am, but from now on there is no bees allowed in my shop...

I've spend some days making this, and I've had fun with it, and it's not that it is insanely expensive in materials...
What Pi.... Me off, is that I'm not abeale to deliver the watch in the time that I've said I would.

Not a Seiko homage...
If anything, it would be a Kaventsmann homage...

Sorry to see all that work and material go to waste. Where I live duct tape fixes anything and everything. Perhaps there is hope.

If I could just get some bronze coloured duct tape...
The regular gray just wouldn't look right...

Duck tape has been used to fix small airplanes airfoil dents. Same staff, but called "aviation tape." So, worth trying.
