Finally fitted 5 inch monster chuck on 7x12 mini lathe...
Lot of patience and tolerancing work on adapter plate but it is worth of, really... I'm impressed how easy now I can make chips
This chuck also acts as flywheel due to it's mass...
Of course for tiny work and polishing, I can easily switch to 3 inch chuck...

On second picture you can see 3 inch chuck on top of headstock..

Till now I used this lathe only for making movement rings and similar small jobs.. Hope I will have more time to finish my builds, there is a big plastic box full of "to do" projects

Well, I'm pretty satisfied with 3 inch chuck for small jobs. Hence, I can't turn any larger diam than 70 mm, it is impossible... I need to make specific tools for specific jobs. Also, in my workshop there is no place for larger lathe. So this is sort of solution, for now...
Now I can turn up to 125 mm, which is more than enough.
Also, turning small diameters of hard material is 10x easier and smoother with large chuck...

Now, some moments for relax... Preparing lunch in old traditional way.. It is called "sač", about 55 cm of cast iron plate and tappered cover... Cooking/baking baby beef with vegetables... Will take about 2,5 hr to finish...

Its going to be delicious! We have something similar here ,the one way is similar to yours only the cooking pot is different.
The other is we dig the hole pot in a pile of coal,we call it "covered" !

Yes, I was just to tired to prepare a hole for coal, so just surrounded it with bricks...
