Re: Interesting eBay Auctions
Yup, that's a balance wheel electric. Hamilton USA pioneered the technology with their model 500 Electric in 1957. Some of the coolest "atomic age" watches ever had that movement in them like the Pacer, Ventura, Everest and etc. Next up was the model 505 Hamilton Electric which did away with the long hair-like contacts. Then ESA came out with the 9154 and everybody and their dog used it including Longines, Hamilton (the Swiss had bought the name by then ), Nivada, Keinzle, and so on. Even Timex had a balance wheel electric movement. Quartz watches killed the technology.TUFF Stough wrote: ↑June 8th, 2018, 2:27 amwhoa, it's a whole different species.never encounter anything like this.

Re: Interesting eBay Auctions
I don't know why exactly, but I have no respect for watch movement if it does not have jewels, like many modern quartz do...

I like this watch a lot. The only problems are the battery life and service. If something goes wrong, can the movement be repaired?unreformed66 wrote: ↑June 8th, 2018, 9:39 pmYup, that's a balance wheel electric.
