Interesting watch conversion 1:1 no mods

Post by djolemag »

Hi guys,
Recently I've acquired this nice pocket watch Dugena Festa, decent Unitas 498 with Inca... Good running, very nice sunburst dial.. Wanted to make yet another homage (as usual)Image
Then I thought, how pity it would be to loose such a nice classic watch... To bad it has such a big dial (41.5 mm)... After a while, checking at parts bin, I've found almost forgotten 47mm big pilot case.. Tested quickly eith caliper, dial fits! Hurray! Image
Here are quick shots, movement will be fully serviced and cleaned... Will get huge dress watch.. Bonus : there are no mods needed, except shorter stem, so it can always be reverted into pocket watch (who knows why it could be good decision?)
How do you like it at first sight? ImageImageImage

Great! Looks like a 6498 movement with extra jewels?

No, it's previous calibre, Unitas 498 with incabloc... Basically the same, more-less.. Extra jewel on anchor wheel, different incabloc mounting on main plate etc..

More less same design as 6498, small differences on yoke spring, no centre jewel on main plate... Interesting is a fact that both ratchet wheel screw and crown wheel screw are left hand threaded...
Here it goes, ready for bath... Image
