Well, for 2.0 litre diesel, I pay about 250 e for tax, insurance and registration... However, if I want 2.2 litre, it goes up to 500 e, 2.5 litre is about 650 euro and so on, progressive scale...
So many good cars with engines over 2.0 litre can be bought here for cheap...

before u could get this yellow taxes and put on every car u want, some years back they change it only for a specific car. I geuss it is all about money

Yes the good old "boxy" car years.Car was nice and had torque but handling was just average .
I also had an 850 in 1992 smooth ride and too much tech for 1992 ,used cars were cheap to get back then in the US ,their value was dropping to almost half after 2-3 years due to massive new sales.Its not the case anymore.I never got a BMW again not due to any fact just didn't happen .most ones i liked had big engines and in my country its almost a crime owning anything bigger then 2.0 liters .For a decade it was fine then they changed it again .I had a c63 AMG wihch i had to sell due to the insane tax i had to pay every year for being a 6.0!Come to thing of it i could have just kept in a garage for 25 years then get historic plates !!

Same situation is in Serbia... For 6.0 litres, tax is insanely high, maybe about 1500 up to 2000 euro per year.. Remember avg salaries here are far from EU...

I assume that I am living in a more reasonable country then, I pay $3,5 a year for my motorcycle, $180 for my Audi and nothing for vehicles not used.

Well in Greece you would pay 1.050 euros for circulation tax (annually) +2.740 luxury tax ,(everything bigger than 2.0 litter is charged with luxury tax), if its older then five years and 3.562€ if its newer then five years.

For 6.0 litters its 5.434€ a year plus + 1.230 circulation tax. In Greece we say that you rent you car from the government if you buy bigger engines.So we are forced to buy smaller cc cars. In for years you can easily pay the cars value to our worthless governments!
Keep in mind that Greece was condemned for all this at the EU courts but the government refused to accept the courts order and pays billions in fine every year for over 15 years ow. SO much for the useless EU courts ......worthless!!

Here if you don't use the car and want to pay you would have to turn in the license plates and don't move the car.

My daily car is 1,8 litters 12 years old and i pay 300 euros a year.

In 1992 i paid 9 dollars a year for the license plates for the 850 in the State of New York,I don't know how it is today but that was the most fair tax !

In Spain, you pay 50€ to your city town as circulation tax per year.
Insurance for a regular car is around 200-300€ per year.

High powered vehicles might pay insurance of 700-1500€ per year and a tax of 100€.

That would be sweet. Here, sometimes you pay a lot for a high powered old nugget car in insurance costs.

A new fiat 500 with 85 hp pays 4 times more then my car which is 200hp but 12 years old.Its only value they insure because its what they will pay you in case of accident.Well at least this seems more fair then the taxing !
