Even Balls Get The Blues

Or in this case, stuck reversing wheels (I think).

Went on a bit of a spree a while ago and wound up with a Ball engineer moonphase with a caliber RR1801 under the hood. From new, hand winding was a chore and getting the first click for setting (moon anticlockwise and date clockwise).

Finally had enough and went to my local watch guru. I'm guessing it's a sticking reversing wheel but I can no longer service anything and I sure as hell am not sending it to Toblerone land. Could a brand new mid tier watch have this issue? I didnt exactly get it out of a vending machine.

Sounds really weird, I hope that your local guru can fix the issue. I have seen loose parts in these, it my be such a simple thing.

If I remember correctly, then it is a 2824-2 in there, with some extra modifications made to the rotor.

Sticking reversing wheel. Movement inadequately lubed at the factory

And now my Ball Explorer and my Hamilton gmt are doing it. Brand new watches.

And no, they havent been dropped, whacked, shaken or looked at sternly

Not great- you would expect better QC in a new piece from a prestige brand
