How to protect vintage lume from cracking?

Post by TimemiT »

What is an acceptable and long term method to seal and protect old tritium lume on hands? What product?

As an example, the standard RLX hand set .. or the tritium hands found in Panerai models, especially subs?

Also, will sealing the lume on the back side de-value or be noticeable from the front?

Usually I seal such hands with transparent acrylic lacquer mixed with water applied from underside. After drying it’s absolutely invisible but elastic enough to keep cracked lume in place.

It depends on an initial lacquer density. I'm trying to get a consistence as a fat milk or smth like that. It results in a very thin layer when dried.

Needed to reattach some lume that came of my 6152 minute hand earlier. Was just about to steal the wife’s clear nail polish ImageImage
