Angelus 240 key-wind in watch case?

I have a question for all, can you put an angelus 240 key-wind in a watch case and just remove the caseback to wind?

I think Yoda could explain best what would the issues with such a conversion be.He had considered making such a watch himself,IIRC. I forgot the details (had asked him the same question years ago) but I don't think it's as easy as it seems.

It's quite doable, simply shorten the setting and winding arbors and leave enough for the key to grip, remove the alarm parts on the dial side and movement side and it will fit any case a stem wind movement will fit in.

I once did it for a friend, he has two keys hanging in a leather strap from the wrist, one for winding and one for setting the time.

@Yoda thanks for the insight! I was thinking by reducing the winding bits you could potentially fit a case back on. I have access to a key wind locally for a good price. I thought potentially could use in a "budget" build as discussed. Worst case scenario hoard for parts (also, it has a nice set of hands).

One should point out that the threaded parts and gasket should have some kind of lubrication to avoid unnecessary wear from screwing off and on once a week. NOT silicone oil!
