Best daily-beater?

Post by Mellons »

Just wondering what watches have been the best ‘bang for the buck’ daily wears? The more elaborate longer term builds are great, but also the cheap and cheerful have a warm spot in my heart.

These should be inexpensive pieces, able to be modded (ideally). No exclusions, digital included. What are the cheap, inexpensive models that you keep coming back to?

I can think of ecozilla, jackson fiddies (when available) lately getat luminors…

Omega Speedmaster clone from John via Sjef, a very robust and reliable daily beater.

For a normal person I would say any Seiko Prospex diver is a great daily beater along with any cheap G Shock...I say cheap because they aren't really cheap anymore.... But for me it's the Bronze hinged lug Mille Metri for everyday... Really it won't come off my wrist. I even took it on a 26 mile bike ride last week and it left a green stain on my wrist which is now more of a tattoo .

This one has turned out to be my beater for travel especially.

Was:
Glycine Double 12 that I got off eBay when invicta first bought out glycine. These were going for $250-$280 not too long ago.

Why:
- 200m WR
- bezel that helps me with 2 time zones
- worry free ETA 2824 so I’m not worried about parts/servicing etc
- relatively affordable
- rubber strap

Mods
- new dial
- new hands
- date wheel / mechanism removed
