If you have some kind of Dremel tool you can always cut larger than needed and then slowly work your way to the perfect measurement by using a stone bit.

I have, got an Ali case recently and actually messed it up by cutting the stem (too short). It still works but the crown is pushed up against the case and the lever snaps loose. I have 5pcs of 649X stems on my way.

I'll send you the measurement of how not to cut it. I rather PM you for fear someone might read this too quickly thinking it is the right length to cut. And also because I also advise you to measure it out because not all crowns and CGs are the same. My issue with the AliE case cown is that it comes with a simple 'O-ring' that doesn't really provide much backpressure, causing me to err when measuring how much to cut.

Or with a file. I should have followed that advise, I was 1mm too long and I gave it another cut, now I ended up with ~0.5mm too short.

I use a file once the length is close.

I know it's AliExpress,but you'd have imagined that the factory making the cases would have made a stem to fit as they are advertised as being for the 6497. I ordered four cases the first two one with and one without CG look okay the 3646 cases I've bought a 45 and 47mm of are a bit of waste of money.

Athaya's 8mm crown will take a 1.2mm stem and is a higher quality. However, I think you will will need to thread tap the case.

I've done a few of these with both Athaya and Raffles crowns - what @mountaineer says here all matches my experience. Athaya's tube and threads are larger, so you'll need to pull the existing tube, drill it out (same specs as drilling/tapping Gordon's 7mm onion crown), tap it, and then you'll have the best look possible.

Interestingly, Raffles' has a logo/brevet 8mm crown, and also a sterile 8mm crown - and they are a little different in dimensions. The sterile one looks killer and is more beefy - but lacks that awesome logo.

You'll need that stem adapter to use the raffles crown, and that will obviously add to the overall length of the stem - so you may be able to salvage the existing stem that is currently too short just by adding the adapter.
