Swatch chronograph issues.

Post by Yoda »

So I was going to replace the battery in a 1980s Swatch chronograph, only the minute, hour and seconds hand moved.....

Tried to bump it in my hand, nothing happened. Tried heating it to 35 degrees overnight, nothing happened.

Hm, what now?

I took a pretty powerful magnet and magnetized it, afterwards I demagnetized it and all hands moved around.

Reset the chronograph hands one by one and set the time, all good.

If you need a movement replacement, let me know.

I own a Swatch chronograph without crystal (and is pretty much impossible to replace)

I had a few of those in the 90s… not even sure how you access the movement. Good call on fixing it… you probably spent more time on it than it was worth (short of sentimental value for someone)

I don't think that I have spent more than an hour on this, perhaps also an hour thinking of what to do.

Yes, it has a huge sentimental value for the owner and it has never been worn.

Skills are not enough, a pretty good portion of fantasy is needed after giving it some thoughts.

Accessing the movement is impossible, unless you cut it open and glue it back together.

I did it all from the outside and it worked.

So, it's possible to replace the crystal? I would need to do that on my Swatch chrono
