Panerai Kampfschwimmer on german „eBay-Kleinanzeigen“

Post by dj57 »

Today I have been informed by a friend of mine about an old Panerai Radiomir Kampfschwimmer.

The story:
The day before yesterday the following watch was on the German “eBay Kleinanzeige” on sale:
„Old watch from my grandfather, doesn't run, but can certainly be repaired.“
Price: €20 (not starting bit but „buy it“)

The watch was later removed because the offers didn't stop and someone must have explained to the owner that the watch is worth much much more than €20.

In the meantime I have heard that his grandfather was a combat swimmer during WW2 and received this watch…

Below some pics:

In the meantime I contacted José (Perezcope) and he told me his has been contacted by the owner …. let‘s see whether this is going to be a nearly new „bosnian“ story.

I asked José and he told me:
„Possible but I need to see the dial without crystal first.“
Then I answered: the hands are a little bit strange.
José: yep

This is an interesting one - I’d love to see the dial under that crystal as well. Thanks for sharing.

As I mentioned above, I found the hands I bit strange

but it could be that they’re similar to these ones…

… and as just discussed with José they might be from a pocket watch.

Yep, apparently, at some point, hands must have been replaced by generic ones if damaged by radium or by any water leak inside the case.
The crown is not original i think, it's much round and smooth than usual 3646 ones
I even think it is not a screw down one!

By the way, as we can see the dial isn‘t the anonymous/sterile one.

This could mean that the dial was from the first batch that was meant to be for the Decima MAS. Then the Germans ordered more watches and those were anonymous.

I really have my doubts about this story.

The seller has access to the internet and by typing the words "Radiomir, Panerai and Rolex" into Google he would have been aware what he might have before offering it at 20 Euro for buy at once.

BTW. The seller is living just 5 miles away from me, I could have been there very quickly :-)
